This is a recreation of a sigillum at the Jerusalem House of Quality. The original piece is located at the outer side of the building, and since it's in a bad condition, there was a request to re-create it in order to preserve the building's history.

The Sigillum belongs to Sr. Mir Osman Ali Khan, a Muslim prince who was the ruler of the state of Hyderabad in India, and a member of the St. John Order. The St. John order had set him a goal to take care of the healing of people. Therefore, the prince donated to the building of a hospital in Jerusalem, which later became the Jerusalem House of Quality.

In the center of the sigillum, it is written in Urdu that the prince is "the founder of the state, the victor of the great lands, the Aristotle of his generation, etc."

I chose to recreate this Sigillum because it aligns with my goal: to create works in Jerusalem that are destined to be installed in a specific place and engaged with its space and history, like 'eclipse', for example.
